What is home health care?
“Home care” is a simple phrase that encompasses a wide range of health and social services.  These services are delivered at home to recovering, disabled, chronically or terminally ill persons in need of medical, nursing, social, or therapeutic treatment and/or assistance with the essential activities of daily living.

Who is eligible for home health?
Medicare and most insurance’s will approve home health care for beneficiaries who meet these conditions: You must be home bound.  This means leaving home is a major effort due to limited abilities to walk or to get out of your home you normally requires the assistance of others and when you do, it is to get medical care, or for short, infrequent, non-medical reasons such as getting your hair cut, attending religious services, or going to an adult day care.  Your doctor must approve the care for skilled nursing, physical, speech or occupational therapy and the care is being provided by a Medicare certified agency.

How do I qualify?
Home care is a very beneficial option, because it allows patients to stay in their home, where they are most comfortable. If you have been diagnosed with a new disease, are managing a long-term illness or recovering from an accident, illness or surgery, you may be able to receive home health care as part of your insurance benefit. Call our office or ask your doctor to request our services.  If you are in the hospital, the discharge planner can make a request for you.  We can bill most insurance plans.
